We currently have permanent opportunities for Electrical Fitter Mechanics, Linespersons, Live Line Linespersons, Cable Jointers and Power Workers (Trade Assistants) based in multiple locations across Regional Queensland and are inviting applications from suitably qualified candidates.

The Operations team

Field Delivery is responsible for the safe delivery of the Lines & Underground Construction and Maintenance program of works, as well as the core functions of customer service response, including customer fault response and disaster management, customer connections, customer relationships and provision of metering services. The core tasks are constructing and maintaining overhead/ underground high and low voltage electrical distribution and sub-transmission systems, street lighting mains and customer service lines.

The positions

Electrical Fitter Mechanic:

As an Electrical Fitter Mechanic you will install, repair, commission and maintain various items of distribution HV & LV electrical equipment and plant.
You are trade qualified with a Queensland Electrical Fitter Mechanic licence or have the ability to obtain one prior to commencing.
Operate within Energy Queensland (Ergon Energy and Energex) requirements for quality, safety and hazard assessment compliance.
Demonstrated knowledge of an electricity distribution / transmission system, including construction and maintenance of the electrical network.
WP High Risk Work Licence (operate EWP device) is essential.
Heavy Rigid (HR) Licence is desirable.
20t Slew Crane Licence is desirable.
Forklift Truck Licence is desirable.
Switching experience is desirable.
Additionally having experience in installation connection / metering activities would be an advantage.

Linesperson and/or Live Line Linesperson:
As a Linesperson / Live Line Linesperson you will construct, maintain and repair overhead, high and low voltage electrical distribution and sub-transmission systems, street lighting mains and customer service lines.
You hold a Queensland Electrical Linesperson licence, or the ability to obtain one prior to commencing.
Operate within Energy Queensland (Ergon Energy and Energex) requirements for quality, safety and hazard assessment compliance.
For a live lineperson role, you are Queensland trade qualified with a Live Line authorisation, however, if you are a Linesperson wanting to undertake further training and skill development to full Live Line capabilities, we encourage your application.
Perform live line methodology on Energy Queensland (Ergon Energy and Energex) networks.
Demonstrated knowledge of an electricity distribution / transmission system, including construction and maintenance of the electrical network.
WP High Risk Work Licence (operate EWP device) is essential.
Heavy Rigid (HR) Licence is desirable.
20t Slew Crane Licence is desirable.
Forklift Truck Licence is desirable.

Cable Jointer:
As a Cable jointer you will install, repair, commission and maintain various items of HV & LV underground electrical cables, equipment and plant.
You are trade qualified with a Queensland Electrical Cable Jointer license (restricted to polymeric or full paper lead endorsement) and or have the ability to obtain one prior to commencing.
Operate within Energy Queensland (Ergon Energy and Energex) requirements for quality, safety and hazard assessment compliance.
Demonstrated knowledge of an electricity distribution / transmission system, including construction and maintenance of the electrical network.
Heavy Rigid (HR) Licence is desirable.
Forklift Truck Licence is desirable.
WP High Risk Work Licence (operate EWP device) is desirable.
Switching experience is desirable.

Power Worker (Trade Assistant):
As a Power Worker (Trade Assistant) you will assist tradespeople with the construction, maintenance and associated activities on overhead and underground electrical networks with limited supervision.
Provide support as a safety observer and actively identify and implement hazard control measures where needed.
Drive and operate vehicles, plant, tools and equipment, while also maintaining and checking the operation of equipment.
Monitor and maintain both material and stock levels, ensuring adequate stock is on hand.
Heavy Rigid (HR) Licence is mandatory.
WP High Risk Work Licence (operate EWP device) is essential.
20t Slew Crane Licence is extremely desirable.
Forklift Truck Licence is desirable.

The travelling crew opportunities will be required to travel across regions of Queensland to support the delivery of the Lines Construction and Maintenance Program of Work for extended periods of time. These opportunities will be based in Mackay, Toowoomba and Townsville.

The depot based opportunities available across Regional Queensland include – Bamaga, Biggenden, Blackwater, Blackall, Bundaberg, Clermont, Cloncurry, Collinsville, Charleville, Chinchilla, Cooktown, Cunnamulla, Dalby, Emerald, Gayndah, Georgetown, Gin Gin, Home Hill, Ingham, Innisfail, Hughenden, Julia Creek, Kilkivan, Longreach, Mackay, Middlemount, Millmerran, Monto, Moranbah, Moura, Mt Isa, Mundubbera, Normanton, Pinnacle, Ravenshoe, Richmond, Rockhampton, Roma, Sarina, Springsure, St George, Tara, Theodore, Thursday Island, Townsville, Toowoomba, Wandoan, Winton and Yarraman.

Consideration for all roles

Holding a current ‘C’ class open Drivers Licence is essential.
Working knowledge of Electricity Act & Regulations, Workplace Health & Safety Act and Regulations, and other relevant statutory acts & regulations.
Proven high performance in safety.
Possess the ability to follow directions, work unsupervised and appreciate the physical requirements of carrying out manual work in diverse conditions with the willingness to learn.
Well-developed interpersonal communication skills to develop good working relationships with team members and external customers. You must have the ability to identify and understand customer needs.
Be open minded to a new age safety culture and willing to take ownership and be professional.
Willing to learn & use technology in the field.
For travelling positions – be prepared to travel across regional Queensland.
For regional depot-based roles – required to participate in an on-call roster and available for call out emergencies.
